The design and fabrication of this bespoke pergola structure for the historic Priory Gardens in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
About the project
Working closely with the team of the local town council, we were commissioned to develop the design of this bespoke pergola celebrating 1,000 years since the foundation of the Priory in Dunstable.
The intention was for this to be more than just a structure, acting as an educational tool outlining the history of the Priory with various events described as you pass through the structure.
This was achieved using lettering laser cut into powder coated angles with contrasting stainless steel plates behind. Measuring 12m long, it featured 7 curved arches with stainless steel tensioned cables between.
The structure was built in mild steel and was galvanised after fabrication before powder coating in a black leatherette finish to provide a both a smooth and durable finish.
