Plateau Restaurant, Canary Wharf

This planter scheme for a leading restaurant on Canary Wharf included stainless steel cube planters, hot dipped galvanised planters, bamboo screening and an innovative frame mounted planter display. This project for our clients Green Interiors was amongst the most challenging and rewarding completed to date.

About the project

An outside terrace and inside restaurant seating called for two different types of planter style. The terrace area featured all hot dipped galvanised planters, the inside area beautiful planters finished in grained stainless steel.

All planters within the scheme had to be mobile to allow access to services therefore all included concealed braked castors in the base. The south terrace featured a series of trough planters, all in hot dipped galvanised steel with a back frame and cable system to support bamboo's screening the buildings ventilation louvres.

Inspired by a flower seller's stall, the main display in the north terrace featured 36 planter buckets hanging on a back frame which offered numerous design headaches including stability and drainage. The main planter below collected water from the buckets and allowed us to introduce weight to gain the stability required.
