Notting Hill Gate

About the project

Working closely with PAD Landscapes, we developed and manufactured these bespoke steel planters for the Ruby Zoe Hotel in Notting Hill Gate, with installation undertaken by Acre Landscapes. The planters incorporated distinctive faceted front elevations developed by PAD, requiring precise fabrication to achieve straight, seamless transitions between each face.

Each planter measured over 5m long and was fabricated from 2mm galvanised steel. The faceted geometry introduced multiple changes of angle across the front elevations, requiring careful development and fabrication to maintain the clean lines specified within the design.

A further challenge was accommodating the gradient of the surrounding paving whilst maintaining the planter top edges parallel with the windows above. Each base was manufactured to follow the sloping surface, with integral adjustable feet incorporated within the recessed base to allow final levelling during installation.

For manufacture, transportation and installation, each planter was divided into two sections. The connection between the sections was positioned below the planting surface, concealing the joint within the completed installation. The planters were finished in RAL 7021 Black Grey with a matt powder coated finish.
