Hyde Park
Large galvanised steel tree planters incorporating bolted construction and reinforced perimeter edging, manufactured around established trees near Hyde Park in Central London.
About the project
Manufactured for Hasmead plc, these large-scale tree planters were developed to form raised perimeter structures around established trees within a pedestrian area close to Hyde Park and Piccadilly in Central London.
Each planter measured approximately 2.5m x 2.5m and 0.6m high. The structures were divided into individual sections to allow them to be positioned around the existing trees before being bolted together to form the completed perimeter and secured to a concrete foundation.
The planters were fabricated from galvanised steel and incorporated a formed top lip detail together with a continuous base plate. Equally spaced strengthening gusset plates were incorporated throughout the structure to provide the rigidity required across the large planter faces.
Following fabrication, the galvanised metalwork was finished with a hard-wearing powder coated finish in RAL 9005 Black Matt.
