Hyde Park
Large galvanised steel tree planters with reinforced perimeter edging and bolted construction, manufactured to surround established trees near Hyde Park in Central London.
About the project
Manufactured for Hasmead plc, these large-scale tree planters were developed to form raised perimeter structures around established trees within a pedestrian area close to Hyde Park and Piccadilly in Central London.
Each planter measured approximately 2.5m x 2.5m and stood 600mm high. A key requirement was to accommodate the existing trees without disturbing them during installation. The planters were therefore manufactured in separate sections, allowing them to be positioned around the trees before being bolted together to form the completed perimeter.
The structures were fabricated from galvanised steel and incorporated a formed top lip, continuous base plates and equally spaced strengthening gussets. These provided the rigidity required across the large planter faces, while the base plates allowed the completed structures to be securely bolted to concrete foundations.
Following fabrication, the galvanised steelwork was powder coated in RAL 9005 Black Matt to provide a durable finish suitable for the public location.
