About the project

A leading global defence contractor commissioned us to produce a decorative panel for the employees’ garden at its site in Scotland, to commemorate its 50th anniversary. Our challenge was to laser-cut the design from simple reference images rather than engineering drawings. Through numerous iterations and mock-ups, our in-house design engineers captured details far beyond the client’s expectations.

Adding further complexity, the panel had to be curved. In order to prevent distortion during the rolling process, the panel was layered between steel sheets, with the laser-cut pieces left in place. Once these pieces were removed, three supporting legs were welded in place, and the whole assembly was powder-coated in black.
