Bronze-Finish Walkway, London

Suspended walkway panels, laser-cut in mild steel and specially treated to create an authentic bronze appearance, for a Grade 1 Listed mansion in London’s Regent’s Park.

About the project

We were commissioned by Landscape Associates to design and fabricate a suspended walkway system to conceal below-ground plant equipment on a prestigious Grade I Listed property.;

For the design, we were presented with a image of a cast bronze panel: our challenge was to develop a 2D pattern inspired by a 3D original. The budget did not allow for a solid bronze construction, so we laser-cut the walkway panels from 20mm mild steel plate, with a Metalite coating giving them an authentic bronze appearance.

The panels were connected to a lattice steelwork frame using invisible fixings, ensuring the whole structure is completely flat, rigid and solid underfoot.
