Bespoke aluminium pergola with concealed structural connections, manufactured to support a retractable awning at a private residence in Wood Green, London.
About the project
Working in collaboration with architects Brown Urbanism, we developed and manufactured a bespoke aluminium pergola for the rear elevation of a Victorian property in Wood Green, North London. Measuring approximately 2.5m x 2.0m, the structure was fabricated from aluminium box sections to achieve the specified square-edged profiles while providing a lightweight, durable solution for external use.
A key structural requirement was supporting a 4m wide retractable awning extending across the rear of the property. The pergola was connected to the building through brackets welded directly to the structural steelwork within the existing building, providing the necessary support while maintaining the intended appearance of the framework.
The pergola was manufactured in multiple sections incorporating concealed socket and sleeve connections, allowing the individual components to be joined without visible external fixings. The completed aluminium structure was powder coated in RAL 3014 Antique Pink Matt, providing a durable protective finish consistent with the architectural detailing of the property.
