Bronze Walkway
Regents Park
Suspended laser cut steel walkway incorporating a bespoke decorative pattern and bronze-effect finish, manufactured to conceal below-ground plant equipment at a Grade I Listed property in Regent’s Park.
About the project
Working with Landscape Associates, we developed and manufactured a suspended walkway system for a Grade I Listed property on Chester Terrace in Regent’s Park. The structure was required to provide a solid pedestrian surface while concealing plant equipment positioned below ground level.
The decorative pattern was developed from an image of an existing cast bronze panel, translating the three-dimensional reference into a two-dimensional design suitable for laser cutting. With solid bronze unsuitable for the project budget, the walkway panels were instead manufactured from 20mm thick mild steel plate.
The individual panels were supported on a fabricated lattice steel framework, with concealed fixings used to create a continuous, level surface. The supporting structure provided the rigidity required for the walkway while allowing the decorative panels to remain the visible finished element.
Following fabrication, the steel panels were finished with a specialist coating to achieve the specified bronze appearance.
