Bespoke hot dipped galvanised steel planters manufactured for a City of London scheme, combining robust construction with detailing developed for a high-traffic public environment.
About the project
In collaboration with landscape architects Publica, we manufactured eight bespoke galvanised steel planters for Culture Mile BID in Aldersgate within the City of London. Each planter measured 1845mm long x 800mm wide x 500mm high.
The planters were fabricated from 3mm thick mild steel and incorporated a wide top lip detail, drainage holes within the base and equally spaced guying points below the planting surface.
A key consideration within the design was the potential future relocation of the planters. Provisions were therefore incorporated to allow integrated seating elements to be added at a later stage should the requirements of the site change.
Following fabrication, all eight planters were hot dipped galvanised to provide a durable finish suitable for their public realm location, with the exposed surfaces developing a natural patinated appearance over time..
