Information Pedestals
Battersea
Corten steel information pedestals incorporating engraved stainless steel plaques, concealed service access and laser cut branding for the Battersea Power Station redevelopment.
About the project
Manufactured for the Battersea Power Station redevelopment, these bespoke information pedestals were designed to provide visitors with information relating to the history and operation of the original power station. A total of ten units were produced and installed throughout the development.
Each pedestal was fabricated from Corten weathering steel and incorporated engraved 316 stainless steel information plaques detailing the purpose and function of retained features within the historic power station. Mirror polished stainless steel corner details were integrated into the design, providing contrast to the naturally weathering Corten steel structure.
A key requirement of the project was the integration of concealed service access within the pedestals. Hinged lockable access doors were incorporated into the rear of each unit, allowing maintenance access to site services whilst maintaining a clean and uninterrupted external appearance.
Laser cut Battersea Power Station branding was incorporated into the pedestal design to provide continuity with other architectural elements installed throughout the wider development.
