About the project

Working with Hencote Winery near Shrewsbury, we manufactured a series of bespoke Corten steel signage and decorative panels for the newly constructed winery. The principal feature comprised two sets of three entrance panels, each measuring approximately 2.5m high x 1.5m wide and fabricated from 10mm thick Corten steel.

The main technical challenge was reproducing the detailed imagery and typography within the substantial thickness of the material. To establish the suitability of the artwork for laser cutting, we developed and manufactured trial panels from 3mm stainless steel, allowing the intricate details to be assessed before proceeding with the full-size Corten panels.

Following approval, the final panels were precision laser cut and fabricated with welded base plates and strengthening ribs. These provided the structural rigidity and support required for the large, heavy panels while maintaining the intended appearance of the decorative artwork.

The completed Corten steelwork was shot blasted and pre-weathered before delivery, ensuring the panels arrived on site with a consistent developed patina across the finished surfaces.
