Corten Ramp
Battersea

Corten steel cladding panels manufactured to follow the sloping entrance and exit ramps of the underground parking facility at Battersea Power Station.

About the project

Working with Blu-3, we manufactured the Corten steel cladding for the entrance and exit ramps serving the underground parking facility at the redeveloped Battersea Power Station.

Each ramp required approximately 78 linear metres of cladding, standing 1.1m high. The panels were fabricated from 3mm Corten weathering steel in individual lengths of up to 2.8m, with each section formed to follow the gradient of the corresponding ramp.

A key manufacturing consideration was maintaining consistent joints and alignment across the long, sloping elevations. Each panel incorporated folded ends to create tight seams between adjoining sections, while external corners were fully welded and polished to achieve continuous finished surfaces.

All Corten steel was shot blasted before laser cutting, forming and welding. This ensured a consistent surface preparation across the individual components, allowing the completed cladding to develop a uniform weathered patina over time.
