Decorative corten steel fins manufactured for the external refurbishment of a private residence in Forest Hill, London.

About the project

Working in collaboration with the client and Red Squirrel Architects, this project involved the design development and fabrication of a series of bespoke corten steel fins to the elevations of a private residence in Forest Hill, London.

Particular attention was given to the development of the fixing methodology and fabrication detailing to ensure the fins remained perfectly straight and aligned once installed. The folded profile design introduced additional fabrication complexity, while fins exceeding the maximum available raw material lengths required joining, welding and polishing to achieve a seamless finished appearance.

The fins were fabricated from 3mm corten steel, selected for its distinctive weathering characteristics and natural rusted patination, providing contrast against the architectural detailing of the refurbished building.
